I joined the SFMTA Board of Directors! The SFMTA is in charge of transportation writ large, including vehicle circulation, Muni, street parking, curbside management, biking and walking. I get around the city by walking, taking Muni, biking, ride hail, and in friend’s cars. I am a longtime advocate and I am passionate about improving transportation. I served for four years on the SFMTA Citizens’ Advisory Council learning about the agency.
In speaking to community members, I’m quickly learning that everybody has an opinion: about the parking zones in front of their business, about the bus line that they take to work, about the stop signs in front of their home, about crossing the street safely with their kids. The SFMTA’s policy and execution has huge impacts on the health, wealth, and happiness of San Franciscans; as well as towards our city’s broader goals of climate and equity. I’m excited to get to work, thinking about how to build trust with the public, fund the structural deficit, foster safety on our streets and transit, and deliver outstanding service.
