  • Celebrating the retirement of Melvyn Henry, Chief Safety Officer
  • ParkMobile, a new parking app, is live on street parking meters
    • ParkMobile is active in Berkeley, Oakland, Santa Cruz, and Walnut Creek
    • ParkMobile will go live for court parking lots in near future
    • ParkMobile has built-in reminders for expiring time and allows people to add time remotely
    • Hotspot, another app, will go live in early 2026
    • PayByPhone will sunset on 2026-06-30
    • Board will hear a follow-up on convenience fees and budget by end of year

Item 11: Bayview Community Pathway Project

  • This is a biking and walking path going through the Bayview, in response to complaints about unsafe driving speeds and making streets safer as part of the 2020 Bayview Community Based Transportation Plan.
  • Continued with direction to staff to conduct more outreach and come back before a grant deadline expires in December

Item 12: Title VI Program Update

  • Title VI is federal requirements for SFMTA to be fair and equitable on race and class dimensions in how it delivers transit service
  • There is some interesting data like “social media use by native language”, “routes with a higher-than-average share of low-income or minority riders”, “minority block groups (higher proportion of racial minority than average)”, “low-income block groups”
  • Discussion on Whatsapp and Wechat as communication modes for minority and non-English speaking people
  • Board action: approved resolution affirming report that SFMTA does not discriminate transit service by race or income.
